At Joyride no class can be all one genre of music, no class can be all hills or all endurance ride, and instructors are expected to cue in the same way - consistent lingo and therefore a JoyRide style of teaching. I found that this is a huge source of frustration for gym members - lack of consistency between classes. I strongly believe in cultivating creativity though. That's the reward and fuels the passion of teaching (any discipline). I tend to agree about offering more services. You have to know your product well to deliver it well. It's been tough getting our other offerings off the ground. That said, some folks have left their gyms bc we offer enough variety we meet all fitness goals: strength, cardio, and flexibility. That being said, we have an outstanding Spinning instructor, who is also a outstanding yoga teacher. So what we have done is run 30 minutes of yoga. 50 cycle, and 25 stretch.
